The Gymnastics Ethics Foundation (GEF) publishes its 2024 Annual Report, highlighting a year of growth, reform, and continued dedication to safeguarding integrity in gymnastics.

Increase in the number of reports
In its sixth year of existence, the Foundation saw again an increase in the number of reports received (81). This steady increase is not just a statistic, it reflects growing awareness and a rising willingness to speak up, underpinned by greater trust in the Foundation’s work. In response, the Foundation expanded capacity, reviewed internal procedures, and introduced a WhatsApp reporting channel, broadening access for the global gymnastics community.
Structural Reform: Abolition of the GEF Appeal Tribunal
A key milestone in 2024 was the abolition of the GEF Appeal Tribunal, following a decision by the FIG Congress. As of October 2024, all appeals of GEF Disciplinary Commission decisions are now made directly to the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS). This reform increases efficiency and celerity of the proceedings.
Monitoring, advisory, collaboration
The GEF continued its regulatory and advisory work with National Federations to ensure that reported abuse is dealt with in accordance with the FIG Rules.
Further, the GEF continued strengthening partnerships with sport organisations, athlete associations, national authorities and safeguarding experts. Such collaboration remains crucial for the GEF to conduct its mission.
Financial remarks
The 2024 GEF Annual Report includes the financial statement for 2024.
Ensuring financial stability is essential for the GEF to conduct its mission. In this respect, the GEF welcomes the recent FIG Executive Board Decision of 9 July 2025 to contribute an annual amount of CHF 750,000 for the 2025-2028 cycle.
