New Rules Governing Proceedings before the Gymnastics Ethics Foundation

The Foundation Council has adopted the "Rules Governing Proceedings before the Gymnastics Ethics Foundation".

The Rules set out, in a single instrument, the procedures applicable to the GEF's case management activities and to proceedings before the GEF Disciplinary Commission, and codify the safeguards afforded to those taking part in GEF proceedings.

The Rules, together with the new Code of Discipline of World Gymnastics (which the GEF was entrusted with drafting), provide a robust framework to protect all participants in gymnastics and to make the sport safe and fair for everyone.

The Rules enter into force on 1 September 2026 and apply to all proceedings initiated after that date. 

The GEF will hold a series of webinars, open to Member Federations, athletes, coaches, safeguarding officers and anyone involved in gymnastics, to present the Rules and their practical operation. Further information will be shared in due course.
